A group of employers believes that the employment situation in the Philippines will improve in 2023

The group of employers in the country believes that the employment situation in the Philippines will improve in the year 2023. According to Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) president Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr, the only problem is that progress is slow and not as expected. He said compared to other countries in Asia, the Philippines is slightly behind in relaxing the health measures implemented by the government due to the covid-19 pandemic and is still tied to face mask mandates while other countries have relaxed. The ECOP chief also sees that the negative effects of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine will subside next year, giving hope to the economy and industries that have lost jobs. -- If you recall, last October, the number of unemployed in the country dropped to 2.24 million based on the preliminary results of the latest labor force survey by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). While the employment rate in October climbed to 95.5% which is the highest recorded from the past two years.
